Blue Dot

Blue Dot is an innovative educational Primary course designed to enhance English language teaching. The program features rich global content, including audio and video, to help students develop a comprehensive understanding of their environment and promote critical thinking. The course also addresses contemporary issues such as climate change, misinformation, and digital literacy, offering age-appropriate opportunities for learners to engage with complex topics and develop analytical skills.

I have always wanted to create a 3D logo for one of my projects, so this was a perfect opportunity. The logo lettering was created using Adobe Illustrator and Dimension, and the globe was digitally painted in Procreate. I then created environments of different places around the word in Photoshop. I researched all the stock photography myself, and I ensured that the images are genuinely from the place I was recreating – for example, the mountains in the Level 3 cover, genuinely are in the Antarctic.

Each level of Blue Dot includes a Classroom Resource Pack box, which contains posters, flashcards and other materials for teachers. I had to adapt the logo to fit these different formats; the horizontal version of the logo can be seen on the front edge of this box.

This was a huge project, and it’s one which I would like to write more about soon, so I will be writing a case study on how these covers were made in the near future, including my experiments with 3D software.
