In April 2023 I volunteered as the new Editor of local newsletter magazine Hanborough Herald, which has been going since the 1980’s. At the time, the magazine had no formal template, so I took the opportunity to completely overhaul the design, including the masthead/cover and internal pages, using a very versatile grid system. The new masthead logo includes an illustration of a church spire, a local landmark in the area. Then I searched online for images of the local area, and made contact with photographers to ask permission to print their photos on the cover.
I decided to use Affinity Publisher as the page layout software, as it gave me the opportunity to learn a new design application.
